My story

OWNER SURRENDER NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 6/11/2025:  Pretzel - male - approx 6 months old - 7.12 pounds - Parti Yorkie Reason for intake:  We were contacted by a rescue friend about this dog who indicated we were going to be reached out to by the father of the owner of a little Yorkie who'd been hit by a car.  We received the email and called straight away.  We took the dog in and sent him directly to our orthopedic veterinarian.  His right rear femur is broken in two.  Unfortunately, she indicated that the break is more than a week old... likely a few weeks old and the chances of repair are slim to none.  She indicated he is in no pain whatsoever when manipulating the leg which leads her discern the injury is older than a week (which is what we were told initially).  Unfortunately, repairing an old injury such as this will likely not be successful.  We opted for amputation.  His amputation took place as we make this post 6/12/2025.  He will need 10-14 days for recovery.  He will also be neutered during surgery.  We will have more information as it comes to us.  Stay tuned!
