My story

Dear potential family, if you enjoy the smarts, curiosity, beauty, and loyalty of a trim and pretty German Shepherd, please look no further than me. I’m Sampson a 6-year-old German Shepherd that has been bunking and playing with the shelter volunteers since last June after I was found as a stray at Sunset Park. I’m an energetic guy with the look and enthusiasm of a puppy. I love to run and play fetch, it’s my absolute favorite thing, but when I am tired out, I am a loving cuddle bug.I’ve was treated to a few days on a superb sleepover at a volunteer’s house where we visited a garden shop, Home Depot, Posse park, and the Paws Thrift Store. Not wanting to blow my chance of being in a home again I respond quickly when my name is called and I mind my manners. I am a housebroken mature dog and although I was curious in Home Depot I did excellently around all the people and noises. I am a very different dog outside the shelter relaxing in a home since I remember how awesome that was not too long ago. I am very attentive to what is around me when I am outside and I listen to my human’s commands. And when I am relaxing and feeling safe inside a home, I am calm, quiet, happy and a true gentleman who likes to watch the birds out windows. I need a good trainer and guidance to improve my leash skills as I can be a strong puller. This is already changing with the support of volunteers, coaching and yummy treats. I need frequent walks and/or fetch time for exercise. I’d like all of your attention to myself and will thrive as the only dog in your home, no cats please.On my sleepovers I show lots of affection, give soft kisses and think that belly rubs are out of this world. I am spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines.I’m an entertaining, cheerful, and interesting Shepherd and I hope you want to get together! Come and plan to visit me a few times and bring a ball for fetch.
