My story

Meet Eevee ❤️ | Foster Needed Eevee was nearly left behind during the recent hoarding case in Patrick County. She had been free-roaming the property and fled to hide when help arrived—scared, overwhelmed, and unsure of the chaos around her. With piles of debris and grass nearly six feet tall, there were endless places for her to disappear. Just as we were preparing to leave, a flash of red fur caught our eye. We followed it to a dog house, where we found a small, trembling girl pressed tightly into the back, trying to make herself invisible. She didn’t fight. She let us slip a leash over her head and gently touch her face, almost like she knew—she was finally safe. Everyone expected Eevee to be completely shut down, possibly even feral. But when she arrived at the vet, a different side of her came to life. Eevee loves people—truly. She lights up around kind humans and leans in for affection. She’s still unsure of the world around her, but with time and patience, she will blossom into a deeply loving and loyal companion. We don't know if she was born on that property or ended up there later—but we do know she's a survivor. Eevee has shown some defensiveness around other dogs, likely the result of having to fight for every scrap of safety and food. With slow, respectful introductions, we believe she can learn to trust again. Now, she just needs a safe place to land—a foster home that will give her the time and space to heal and the love she’s been waiting for. Eevee was never meant to be forgotten. She was meant to be found.
