Here’s what his foster volunteers say about him: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Pinkerton is sweet, gentle and curious. He has blossomed in this time with us. He's a snuggle bug but not needy, and a joy to have around! Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes LOVES it If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Everywhere eventually, the first few days he didn’t like to be touched anywhere but his back and head. He can now even be pet on his belly. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Overtime no, during the first week he only liked to be pet down the back and head. Does the cat come on your lap? No, but he likes to be near us when we're sitting together. Does the cat like to be held? Sometimes. He can be a bit uncomfortable at first, but will instantly relax and just lay in your arms. When he's ready to leave, he will wriggle free. Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, but he does lay at our feet often. Does the cat seek your attention? No only if it’s play time (late at night) Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Pinkerton loves to play! He loves his fishing feather stick, his small play mouse, and anything that crinkles & has cat nip How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? He does not Meow at all but when you pet him and he purrs it’s very loud! At night he likes to push around his toys and he will make a small quiet chirping sound! Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain. We bought him one but he has yet to use it. We try to direct him to it when he claws at the couch. In general, he does not seem to scratch much. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes! He uses it with ease. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Is the cat picky about food? What is the cat's favorite treat? Pinkerton eats fancy feast wet food no preference for the flavor with a little water mixed in. He loves churu treats! Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes the first few days he was scared of us which was understandable. When we would get close to him he would hiss, if we tried to pet him or grab something near him he would hiss and swat. He can be handsy when he is excited during playtime, but nothing abnormal. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Yes, only when excited during playtime. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? During play a few times when overstimulated, but has never broken skin or made full contact. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, never To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? We had a few friends over last week and Pinkerton was super chill! He stayed out in the living room with us the entire night and even let our guests give him a little pet. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Having him has been a joy. We love how playful he gets at night and his little sounds - he is a big snuggle bug! In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Pinkerton is a love! Once you get him out of his shell he will be your best companion! He’s a low maintenance cat, doesn’t need a lot of attention and is totally okay with being left alone to spend time with himself. He doesn’t need to constantly have affection. He’s the perfect addition to a chill, slow paced environment. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Pinkerton was shy at first he would find a spot to hide in and sit there for hours. For the first couple days we didn’t see much of him. We let him be, and he started moving around on his own. After about a week, he was comfortable being in other rooms as long as there was somewhere to tuck himself into. Now, he is comfortable roaming around and being out - he still loves to snuggle into smaller spots, but not in a scared way at all. He is still a baby so we’ve had to do some redirecting with scratching the couch, bed and carpets. He has yet to use his scratch board but when he is in a scratching mood we interject with toys. He gets a lot of energy at night so we try to tire him out before bedtime as well.
