Name, age, breed: Fig, 3 years old, American Bulldog mixLikes: Toys (will rip), being close by, playing fetchDislikes: Being left alone What would be the ideal home? A home with a yard for her to run and playGood with other cats? Have not tried.Good with dogs? Needs a slow introduction, better with dogs similar of her sizeGood with children? Slow introductions, as she is a large and strong breed dog Temperament: Very relaxed, can be playful when excited Motivators? Treats – sometimes.Any commands? Sit, PawHouse trained? YesCrate trained? NoHow long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Working on leash training as she does pull. Fig is not very food motivated - she will often graze her food throughout the day/night. Medical: Overweight - could benefit from weight loss, Supernumerary teethIf you think Fig is the one for you - fill out an application today!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Fig, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
