My story

*** COURTESY POST: Maisie is NOT an AHOTO dog; please contact Laura Walsh at smlewalsh@msn.com for more information. *** Meet Maisie – A Sweet, Resilient Girl Ready for Her Forever Home 13-month-old Female Mastador (75% English Labrador / 25% English Mastiff) Maisie is a beautiful, intelligent young Mastador with a heart full of love and a story that speaks to her strength. This gentle giant was on the verge of being surrendered to a crowded county shelter before a compassionate family stepped in to foster her and help her find the home she truly deserves. Maisie’s journey hasn’t been easy. Her original owner made the difficult decision to rehome her because her size and energetic play style were overwhelming for the toddler in the household. She was then placed with a temporary foster, but one of the resident dogs in that home did not like her, creating a stressful and unsafe situation. With no viable options left and the shelter becoming a last resort, a kind couple intervened to keep Maisie out of the shelter environment, which would have only added to the trauma Maisie had already experienced. Maisie has been thriving in her current foster home. She’s house-trained, fully vaccinated, and knows all of her basic obedience commands. She's a smart and playful girl who loves to engage with people once she feels safe. Initially, she can be anxious or timid when meeting new people, but once she warms up, she forms strong, loving bonds and becomes a loyal and affectionate companion. Unfortunately, while Maisie gets along well with one of the resident dogs in her foster home, she has not been accepted by the second dog. This mirrors what happened in her previous foster placement and suggests she may do best in a home where she can be the only dog, or with a very carefully matched canine companion. Maisie has also started to learn how to coexist peacefully with cats. She had no previous exposure to them, but under close supervision has been responding well to redirection and the “leave it” command. She’s showing real potential to live with cats in the right situation. Due to her size, strength, and youthful exuberance, Maisie is best suited for a home with no small children under the age of 10. She has never shown aggression, but she doesn't yet understand her strength and could accidentally knock a young child over during play. Maisie is a striking dog — muscular, smart, and loving — and she needs an experienced owner who can give her the structure, space, and ongoing fear-free training she needs to thrive. She would love a home with a yard where she can run, play, and just be a dog. Maisie’s Quick Facts: Female Mastador (F1B – 75% English Lab / 25% English Mastiff) 13 months old Knows all basic commands Fully house-trained Up to date on vaccinations Strong, playful, and affectionate Needs a yard Best with experienced owner No small children under 10 Good with select dogs Learning to coexist with cats Maisie has come a long way and deserves a forever family that will offer her the stability and love she’s been waiting for. Her foster family is willing to continue caring for her and they are available to meet with prospective adopters to ensure she finds the right match. Let’s help Maisie find the safe, happy life she’s always deserved. If you are interested in adopting Maisie or would like to learn more about her, please reach out to Laura Walsh at smlewalsh@msn.com. ##2426629##
