My story

Mr. Monopoly is a 4-year-old, 59-pound gentleman who has been charming everyone he meets since arriving at BARCS on June 11. After a few short-term foster stays, he’s now thriving in a longer-term foster home, where he’s shown himself to be a sweet, affectionate, and well-mannered companion. He’s made a smooth transition into home life and continues to impress with his easy going demeanor.This lovable guy is excellent on leash and truly enjoys his walks. While he might show some interest in other dogs along the way, he doesn`t pull or react—he simply observes with curiosity. He’s attentive to his handler, often checking in during walks and responding well to gentle guidance. His calm, friendly energy makes him a pleasure to take out and about.At home, Mr. Monopoly is a certified snuggler. He loves curling up next to his people, having his ears scratched, and dozing contentedly nearby. His foster describes him as the perfect couch companion—soft, cuddly, and full of love. He’s completely house trained, uses his crate without complaint, and has fit seamlessly into the household routine. While he arrived needing a little help with jumpiness and mouthiness, he’s been a quick learner and continues to improve with consistent guidance.Mr. Monopoly has done well with both male and female resident dogs in his foster home, adjusting his play style to suit his companions. He enjoys socializing and playing chase with compatible dogs, but can be selective, so slow and thoughtful introductions are best. His experience with cats and young children is unknown, but the BARCS adoption team is happy to help potential adopters navigate introductions and acclimation.In a previous short-term foster home, Mr. Monopoly quickly revealed just how smart and eager to please he is. He participated in hand-fed training sessions during meals, learning cues like “sit” and “touch,” and starting on “paw” and “down.” He takes treats with remarkable gentleness and approaches new things with quiet curiosity. Indoors, he was calm and observant, often following his foster around the house and happily settling nearby.He also has a fun and goofy side. In the mornings, he does excited little “tippy taps” when he sees his person, trying hard not to jump while his whole body wags with joy.
