My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets. My Borough Breaker wrote: Madizen was such a gem. She finds the shelter very scary, understandably so. At first, she was hesitant about leaving. There was also some loud construction outside which made her a bit more nervous. Once she got off the block she relaxed. She accepted and sought out pets. She sat in my lap, gently took treats, and laid out in the park. She loved to chase balls and was interested in other dogs. She was an ANGEL on the leash. She listened to directions and was extremely sweet. She will need some time to decompress from her scary time at the shelter, but when you earn her trust, it will be the greatest reward. She has so much love to give and she needs the right person to receive that love.My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: This sweet gentle girl puts the "zen" in Madizen. She is adorable and shy when we meet her, and then within five minutes of meeting her, she shows us how friendly and loving she is, coming out of her shell and leaning against us for pets. We sat on a grassy lawn in Central Park and Madizen sat down next to us, then lay down and relaxed. She contentedly watched people and dogs walking by, and was not reactive in the slightest to people or dogs. Then we did some light hiking up and down the North Woods' unpaved trails which she loved! The only thing she perked up at seeing was a sprinting squirrel, and even then she would break her gaze when called. When we sat, she scooted between my friend and I and asked for belly rubs, and adorably put her head in my lap to ask for more pets. When we sit to have lunch at an outdoor cafe, she sat down then curled up into a cute pretzel shape. She was so polite - she didn't hop up to sniff the food, and when we offer her dog treats, she took them so gently and slowly. When we walked, she responded so well to positive reinforcement and encouragement. She would do well with someone to help her build her walking confidence, as she sometimes pauses when hearing sudden loud noises, but she became more confident over the course of our day together which may mean it won't be long till she's more confident! She is so sweet and loving and gentle, and anyone would be lucky to bring her home! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 49 Age: 5yrs 3mths 3wks
