My story

Hi, I’m Poppy! I weigh just 11 lbs and am 8 years old. I'm a peppy, perky Poodle blend who is just looking for a comfy dog bed and a family who will love me forever.  General Behavior: This calm, laid-back girl is a very easy dog. She does allow you to cuddle with her and will sleep near you, but she is not overly affectionate or clingy. Poppy will bark for a little when you leave the house, but she will stop and go back to sleep. When you return, she will greet you with excitement and happy tail wags and wiggles. Likes & Dislikes: Poppy absolutely loves relaxing in her dog beds around the house. Training: Poppy is a good girl! She is working on her leash skills and is making good progress with her housetraining. She's a good passenger in the car and generally has good basic manners. Medical: Poppy is on a urinary rx diet, this costs the same as any quality dog food. Other than that, she just needs her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.  Other Animals: Poppy is good with other calm, small, laid-back dogs. She's even good with cats! Children: Poppy is extremely calm and would be fine with kids as long as they understand that she might not be as affectionate and playful as some other dogs. Home: Poppy does not have a lot of experience with steps. She goes up the steps to the couch but at the moment her foster has to carry her upstairs, so a home without stairs might be best. Otherwise, she'd do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home.  Grooming: Poppy has alopecia (aka some hair loss or thinning in some spots), she still requires regular baths and nails trims and should have a professional spa day every 2-3 months as well. Overall: Poppy will make a wonderful companion for any family who can love her as much as she will love them.  Do you think Poppy would blossom with you? Then please visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $300. ##2319852##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Poppy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
