My story

She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to her stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers. Medically, Telly is a senior overweight cat looking for a relaxing place to spend the rest of her senior years. What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I'll need extra help from you.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.Hi there! My name is Telly and I've been at the Manhattan ACC since May (yes, you read that right)! I arrived as a stray so the staff don't know what my life was like before coming to ACC, but I had various injuries that I'm recovering from really well. I only require a little extra paperwork to be filled out and a few extra vet visits this year because one of my injuries was likely a bite wound (now fully healed). I'm thankful for everyone at ACC taking such good care of me, but I think I'd like to find my forever home now. So what are you waiting for? Ask about me today!A volunteer writes: Telly twirls and swirls, leaning his cheeks into everything as he marvels at the world. It seems, however, that the world Telly admires so lies just beyond his reach. Telly shares all of his hopeful affection from the safety and comfort of his den. He hasn't been entirely sure on taking that next step but we're ready to meet him exactly where he is and know the right family will too. I held my hand out in friendship and watched Telly's epic cuddle show, which is kind of like a running start just without starting exactly. After a few moments of the aforementioned twirls and swirls, I realized I needed a perspective shift. Telly's trying spectacularly hard to make friends in a way that makes sense to him as he creates a path that works, but he could use a patient person to give him a hand as he does.
