My story

Asher is fostered in Camby, IN Meet this pint sized cutie. He is a red tri mini Aussie (Mini American Shepherd), currently weight 22 lbs.  He just turned 3 years old. Asher was surrendered to the Bloomington Indiana Animal Shelter and he was scared to death.  He was discarded at the shelter wearing a muzzle that wouldn't let him open his mouth, and prong collar.  That is one of the worst scenarios for an Aussie that is scared. His owners were in WAY over their heads and clearly got some seriously horrible guidance. Asher was previously not well socialized, so he is not fond of strangers, but he is learning A TON in his foster home.  He is in a foster home with 2 other mini aussies and he is coming around to the idea that humans aren't terrible. He totally takes cues from his four legged foster siblings.  Because of this, we believe a home with another confident resident dog would be best for him.  His foster mom has started doing some nice training with him in trusting humans and learning they are not scary.  Asher is not only adorable but he is affectionate and loves his people.  He is a fierce advocate when it comes to the delivery drivers or mail, but again, this is where he is learning that those things might come with some delicious treats.   Asher is SUPER sweet and affectionate once he bonds to his human.  He is highly food motivated and willing to learn more and more!  He would love someone to help him boost his confidence with some training classes like tricks, nosework or agility once he truly bonds to them and feels safe.  He doesn't need to compete or anything like that, but these activities are simply to help boost his confidence. Asher is crate trained and potty trained.   Asher will need a committed adopter who is going to continue the training and socialization at a slow pace, but using lots of yummy food treats and positive reinforcement.  He can get there, but he needs a strong advocate.  He would do best in a home with a fenced yard and someone that has older children (none under 12 years of age).  We also recommend someone who has dealt with herding breeds and/or some stranger danger in the past.   Asher is neutered, up date to on all vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org   ##2303424##
