My story

Meet Finn – The Heavy-Headed Hunk with a Heart of Gold This Big Rope fella is 3 years old and weighs about 23lbs, his unique features are a show of how he was kept prior to coming to us. His eyes were filled with fear but he has been building his confidence slowly and now he thrives of getting love. When Riverside Shelter reached out to us about Finn, we weren’t prepared for the masterpiece of a Frenchie that would wobble into our rescue. This guy is a hilarious, abstract piece of living art—crate feet, blocky frame, and the most dramatic head flops you’ve ever seen. Physically, Finn’s built like a bowling ball and rests his big ol’ head on everything: your lap, your shoe, your other dog, the couch arm, or—yes—his own paws. Those paws? Constantly wet and dirty from his adorably slobbery resting habit. Luckily, he enjoys soaking them during bath time while his foster siblings get scrubbed. Personality Love: Finn is a bit of a misunderstood genius. He’s been learning what it means to be loved and safe. In the beginning, even a treat or a gentle approach made him flinch and back away. But now, his foster mom says he’s developing what can only be described as the “Finn Stare”—an intense gaze that will melt your heart from the inside out. Once you give him the look of love, he comes barreling over, floppy feet and all, with a head tilt so pure it should be framed. Diet Quirks: He’s not without his quirks—Finn drinks like he’s been crawling through a desert, which sometimes causes him to vomit. He’s slowly learning that water will always be there. He also struggles with eating from a slow feeder—those chunky cheeks and strong jaws make it hard—but he lives for mealtime. He has gained some weight we are very excited about that! This couch-loving, soul-gazing sweetheart prefers his humans to dogs but will do the occasional butt sniff or cozy snuggle with his foster sister. He’s mostly independent, calm, and observant. While his eyes once held fear, they’re now starting to sparkle with trust and comfort. Medical Love: Finn shows no signs of major medical. His stance is awkward, and he obviously has some genetic issues that could possibly affect his future. Finns’ spine is curved and has crate feet that stick out to the side and are elongated. This is what happens when your cross genes that should not be crossed creating exotic looks. Foster Pupdate: He is now an excited little fella, when he first came into the rescue, I would always make jokes about how he rested his head on everything. It is so cute and endearing. It was something I’ve never seen before, thats what makes him so unique. He is still mastering potty training as his water intake is so high. He is starting to use his voice when wanting something and he seems to like most of the dogs in our pack. Finn has also put some weight on and is filling in nicely! We were worried about all the vomiting he was not getting enough nutrients and now he looks great! Like any Frenchie when there is over stimulation and attention he will snap on another dog then run away. Potty training is in progress (he will go when outside…he just doesn’t want to go outside, especially in the heat). He is a rescue they are here for a reason and if you are not prepared of Finns quirks, he may not be for you. Ideal Home for Finn: A calm, consistent environment is best for Finn, a lot of activity is not always his cup of tea but he does get spurts of energy. Someone who is gentle and understands the rewards of earning trust. Please keep in mind he is a big rope they come with genetic issues, do not have an expectation of a healthy Frenchie. You can apply for Finn on our website at freedomfrenchierescue.org. His adoption donation fee is $1050.00. Finn is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Are you ready to take this big eyed fellow into your life?

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Finn, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
