My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:Butters is a very sweet cat, who is a little bit shy and was inside the den, but accepted petting and then slowly came halfway out of the den with the promise of treats. He continued to allow petting all over, raising his rear for lower back petting, and he enjoyed squeeze-up treats and catnip. When the door was shut, he came all the way out on his own in order to get the catnip and began drooling and rubbing in it. He then allowed a partial pick-up while remaining in place.Butters interacts with the observer, solicits and appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or who demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.A volunteer writes: When Butters peeked his head out of his den to see what I was up to, I knew we were going to become friends. His bright hopeful face asked for a chance even if his body wasn't exactly following suit. Life can be confusing and sometimes we can't seem to agree with ourselves about what we want to do, but Butters is so sweetly curious and social. He stayed in his cozy den for all of our visit, but I've heard he loves catnip toys enough for him to joyfully come out to sparkle and see. There's a lot going on in the Care Center with some days busier than others and this can present a very understandable distraction from making friends, but Butters is well worth the extra time it may take to build a friendship. He softly leaned into my hand and snuggled up as close as he could get from the comfort of his den. Butters is waiting to meet you at the Manhattan Care Center.
