My story

Please contact Perry Meade (perrym@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Lovey dovey pup looking for her forever homeDOVEY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!  Name:   Dovey       Best Guess for Breed: Lab/Pointer Mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of June 2025        SEX: Female Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  40 lbs as of 6/6/25 Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!  Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special Adoption Considerations: Dovey is unique in that, like most white dogs, she is deaf. This will require some alternative training techniques that involve visual cues. As with any dog, training a deaf dog takes time and patience. There are some ways in which deaf and hearing dogs learn quite similarly. Repetition, reward, and consistency remain the pillars of success. She also may startle more easily. This is a congenital abnormality and should have no medical impact on her.  Dovey is Looking For: Hiya! My sister Misha and I have enjoyed growing up together but now I'm ready to find a forever home of my own. I want a home where I can feel safe, loved, and cherished. At just a few months old, I'm full of energy and curiosity, eager to explore the world and learn new things. I'm looking for a family that can offer lots of playtime, affection, and consistent training to help me grow into a well-behaved and confident dog. I hope I find a family that is excited to teach me commands using hand signals because I sure am ready to learn. Whether it’s long walks, cuddling on the couch, or playful adventures, I'm ready to become a part of your family. Will you be the one to give me the love and care I deserve? What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Your new dog will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online  bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
