Meet Dottie — She’s Done Wandering and Ready to Belong 🐾 Dottie was found wandering down Hwy 60 in Mineral Bluff, looking like she was on a solo road trip with no map, no snacks, and no real destination — just a heart full of hope and ribs showing from too many days without a meal. When our hero Mark pulled over, she climbed right into his truck like she’d been waiting her whole life for someone to finally say, “You’re safe now.” And she is — for now. But she needs a place to land forever. We’ve since learned from kind neighbor kids that Dottie was dumped by her previous owners. 💔 Two compassionate young ladies who had been spending time with her told us they love her deeply and wish better for her — they said, and we couldn’t agree more, “She deserves so much more than what she had.” Dottie is your classic black lab mix — a total love sponge, goofy and grateful, with a heart that keeps showing up even when the world lets her down. She just wants to be where you are: couch? Yes. Kitchen? Obviously. Car? Shotgun, please. We think she's probably a lab/bloodhound/mastiff or something else mix. She's all good girl though. 🩺 She’s now fully vetted and officially ready for her new home. If you are her forever people, we’d be more than happy to put you in touch with the two young ladies who have been cheering her on — they’d love to know she finally made it home. 💔 We’re currently in crisis mode at the shelter — every open space matters. If you’re not ready to adopt but can foster, you’d be saving two lives: Dottie’s and the next dog who needs her spot. She’s had enough of being nobody’s dog. It’s time for Dottie to be somebody’s everything. Could it be you? 📍 Castoff Pet Rescue 240 Patton Place, Blairsville, GA 30512 📞 706-400-7089 🖤 Your lap could be her happy place. 👉 Apply to adopt or foster here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPRG/Dog 6/26/25 - We just received some extra information on Dottie from one of the young ladies that lived down the street from her. "When she would hang out with me, she was okay with cats! actually wanted to lay with them, though they didnt like her much, also she, for some reason, at a fascination with flowers and going to them and smelling them, shes a perfect dog to go on hikes with, she loves walking, shes AMAZING with kids. Just like cats, she just wants to lay with and protect them. If i think or remember anymore info about her ill let you know! and again thank you for helping get her off the streets. we were gonna take her to a shelter but gas money is alot so we couldnt im so glad somebody found her, I hope she gets the best home ever!!" She said she would do best with a fenced yard - I'm of the opinion that perhaps she was running TO safety, but if you adopt her know she'll need to be watched closely in case she's the run off type. If Dottie is your girl - come meet her at Castoff Pet Rescue by filling out this form -https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPRG/Dog
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dottie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
