My story

This gorgeous girl was surrendered to our care in December 2024 after her owner suffered a stroke and was no longer able to care for her. What we later learned was that Aurora has digestive issues. She suffers from a disorder known as “megacolon”. Cats with megacolon can experience constipation and difficulty passing stool. Unfortunately for Aurora, she had suffered with chronic constipation for many months before coming into our care. Today, Aurora is feeling SO much better! Her condition is easily managed by diet (lots of fibre!) and medication (cisapride, which is added to Aurora’s food). She now has regular movements and is clearly much more comfortable. Also, as you will notice from one of the pics – Aurora is a POLYDACTYL cat – she has an extra toe! How cool is that???? The ideal home for Aurora would be with someone who loves to play and loves to snuggle. Aurora has done well with other cats in her foster home, and does not seem to be bothered by respectful dogs. Aurora’s former owner was a retired senior, who spent most of the day with Aurora. Aurora has always lived as an indoor-only cat and, given her special food and medication needs, should remain indoors. We are looking for a long-term foster for Aurora, who will work in partnership with our rescue. The foster would provide the home and the love, and the rescue will manage her medical needs and provide her food (any help with food costs would be greatly appreciated!). Aurora’s foster will need to have good communication skills (to keep us posted about Aurora’s status), and must be able to monitor her daily medication. Aurora is a special kitty who deserves a special person to love her. She’s a snuggly, affectionate and playful cat. If you might like to meet Aurora, please reach out to us: phone / text – 236-508-2287 or email – info@catsofsaltspring.com

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Aurora, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
