My story

Ready to board her flight to Vancouver upon adoption. Background: Kisha was rescued from a hoarding situation where she faced a lot of neglect. She was one of nineteen dogs found abandoned in a parking lot and taken to a city pound. Thankfully, all of them were saved just in time. Kisha is now safe and living with other dogs at our boarding house. Personality and Socialization: Kisha is a sweet and gentle girl with a tender heart. She’s still a bit shy and careful in new situations, but if you give her time and space, she starts to come out of her shell in the most beautiful way. She likes being around people, but it helps to let her take the lead and come to you when she’s ready. Once she trusts you, she’ll quietly follow you around—it’s very sweet to see her soft personality start to shine. Kisha also does well with other dogs, especially those who are calm and friendly. She can get nervous around dogs that are too pushy or full of energy, but overall, she enjoys the company of gentle dogs. Behaviours: Kisha is quite in a vehicle and tends to stay quiet during travel. She has shown no signs of destructive habits and is not prone to barking. She also behaves well during veterinary visits and bath times. However, leash walk is still new to her and she can be a little anxious. Her adoptive family will need to be patient as she learns. A securely fenced backyard would be a significant advantage in helping her adjust. While she prefers to relieve herself outdoors, she will use indoor pee pads if necessary. Kisha can stay by herself quietly and has not displayed signs of separation anxiety. Health and Diet: Kisha has been spayed, is microchipped, and all her vaccinations are up-to-date. She receives monthly preventative treatments for internal and external parasites and has not shown any indications of allergies so far. Her diet consists of dry kibble, fed twice a day. She has tested negative for heartworm and other common parasites. Ideal Home: Kisha would flourish in a home with someone who has prior experience with dogs and maintains a peaceful, relaxed lifestyle. An owner who is patient, empathetic, and knows how to communicate gently with a shy dog would be an excellent match. Having another well-mannered, friendly dog in the household could be beneficial as a positive example, potentially assisting Kisha in opening up more quickly and fostering trust. However, this is not a requirement. Overall, Kisha is a relatively easygoing and low-maintenance dog. Although she is still a bit shy and tmid and has much to discover about the world, we are certain that she will blossom wonderfully once she finds her patient and loving forever family.
