My story

*This dog is scheduled to arrive in Grimsby, Ontario on Saturday, June 28 2025*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Winnie along with 30 other dogs was living outside of a filthy mobile home. Garbage was everywhere. When the man died a few rescue groups descended on the home to save the dogs. Our rescuer was the last to arrive and took the 2 remaining dogs, both very fearful. From foster: Winnie has come along way in 3.5 months. She actually will approach me with tail wagging when I get home (if she is out of her pen). She LOVES to just quietly lay on my chest and put her little head near my shoulder. Once settled there she loves to give tiny kisses. She is a great little eater and due to her missing teeth does best with soft food. She likes exploring in the yard, and when it is time to bring her in she walks to the opening and turns around showing me her rear end to make it easier for me to pick her up. She is a tiny little thing and needs to be handled with care. This little girl is so low maintenance, you might forget she is even there, but once in your arms and waiting for those kisses you will realize how very special she is and how lucky you are to have her!Name: WinnieBreed: Silky Terrier mix Age: ~10 years Weight: ~6lbSex: Female, spayed Colour: CreamMedical: Received a dental, no concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy Good with women: Yes, but shy Good with kids 0-6: No, shes tiny and shy Good with kids 7-11: No, shes tiny and shy Good with dogs: Yes, happy to co-exist with other dogs but can be nervous What type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? She is best with other low energy dogs like her- She shares a pen with a small dog and is fine with others when put them in there. She is not interested in play with them.Good with Cats: Unknown, not tested - but likely yes with proper intros Crate training: Must be placed in crate, prefers an x-pen House training: Almost perfectly house trained - about 90% thereResource Guarding: None seenWalks on a leash: Never walked on leashEnergy level: Low Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Touch sensitivity, Walking nicely on a leashWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Farm or rural propertyAny noted separation anxiety? None Barker: Average What would be the ideal home for this dog? Winnie would do best in a home with an older retired person. She will be best in a non-chaotic environment. She loves her bed and loves to do one on one time - so someone who will patiently love her and not expect her to be a frisbee dog anytime soon.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Winnie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
