My story

  If ever a dog was created for couches and cuddles, it’s sweet, easygoing 8-year-old Cupcake! At 14 pounds of pure canine sugar, he was sadly surrendered by his original adoring owner, and yet, with surprising resiliency, he settled swiftly into his foster home. Happiest being wherever his foster family is, Cupcake thrives on their ongoing attention, from snuggles and bum scratches to belly rubs and pets. Patient and loving with children of all ages, he’s wonderfully well mannered at bars and coffee shops, joyfully sitting in his foster mom’s lap for hours and then curling up comfortably and contentedly on the softest of blankets while the family watches TV at night. Not overly fond of walks, walking for one or two blocks is Cupcake’s limit before returning home to do what he loves and does best: snuggle and cuddle on the couch. He occasionally chews on hard wishbones like the Benebone, and when his family leaves, he gets either a Woof pupsicle or a West Paws Toppl toy filled with frozen pumpkin that he absolutely loves. Currently co-existing with the resident dogs provided they respect his space, Cupcake would much prefer to be the only dog in his future home or with an especially calm and respectful one. Motivated by love and food, the sole command he knows is “sit,” and having never been crated, he’s happy and well behaved outside of it, and is almost fully housetrained. Now, as the next chapter in Cupcake’s life begins, he hopes to share it fur-ever, snuggling and cuddling, with the most attentive and affectionate of families. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
