Nona- under 6lbs!

My story

Meet Nona! She is the tiniest of the bucket of chihuahuas we took in when their owner was evicted, under 6 lbs and we think a couple years old. The product of likely inbreeding, she has some wonky knees and abnormally small and curved teeth. Like most toy breeds she will probably need frequent dental cleanings longterm and have some arthritis in her knees as she ages. She mostly prefers being carried to walking anyway, a sweet but shy girl who trembles around new people and situations but loves and protects her chosen person. She likes other teeny gentle dogs that won’t injure her accidentally or on purpose and is looking for a calmer adult home that understands what a big scary world it is for such a tiny creature and will make sure she gets appropriately and safely socialized in a positive way. She’s been spayed, had a dental cleaning and some retained baby teeth pulled, her giant chihuahuas talons 🦅 trimmed, and is recovering nicely in foster and ready for a home this week. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
