Name, age, breed: Caramel, 9 months, Mixed breed Likes: Caramel loves sitting right in your lap, cuddling, rolling around in the grass, playing and learning new things; loves chasing after squirrelsDislikes: She does not like hairdryers! What would be the ideal home? Caramel is a smart, high-energy pup who’s perfect for first-time dog owners ready to learn and grow with her. Obedience classes are a must, and she’s quick to catch on and loves learning! With her high exercise needs, she’s your ideal hiking or running buddy.Good with other cats? No small animals Good with dogs? May possibly live with another same size/activity level dogGood with children? No children under 8 years oldTemperament: Friendly, playful, intelligent, and energeticMotivators? TreatsAny commands? Caramel knows sit, lie down, no, come, working on stayHouse trained? Currently training in foster homeCrate trained? Currently training in foster homeHow long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? She is so sweet and loving but also has some sass in her… definitely a puppy but also her personality. She is well tempered and never gets angry or barks. Caramel is learning how to run with a partner, sets a good pace but has issues with stopping suddenly. Caramel does have anxiety issues when meeting new people and will take a while to work up the courage to say hi. She gets very attached to her safe person as well and gets very upset when I leave, and very very excited when I come home (may have abandonment issues). Caramel has also finally learned what toys are so she is able to play!Medical: Dental Malocclusion, on medication for anxiety/behaviourIf you think Caramel is the one for you - fill out an application today!
