My story

Chucky has been in a house for one year with a senior female Rottweiler, cats and neighbor children. He spends time tethered outside yet seems to have a nice temperament. The owner’s son left Chucky at the house and never returned. He hasn’t received any vet care during that time but MARR is working to address all medical needs. When evaluators visited the other house Rottweiler, they didn’t interact much with Chucky as he wasn’t scheduled to be evaluated, but observing him, they saw he was friendly. On May 6, received rabies, bordatella, DA2PP/LEPTO vaccines Heart worm negative on may 7, 2025 Characteristics/Notes from evaluator: Chucky is an easygoing, happy boy who does well with humans including kids as well as cats and dogs. The grandchildren and neighbor kids have all interacted with Chucky. He is not treat motivated. He sniffed the treat and just ignored it. When he smelled the treat in my hand, he was very gentle; he just did not want it. He put his head on my lap and pretty much insisted I pet him on his head. He just craves affection it seems. Chucky physically looks good. He could benefit from a bath and good dog food. He did well on the leash during the eval. He was a super chill dog. We sat down on some steps and he came up to me and just wanted snuggles. He put his head on my lap and wanted pets. When we walked up to Alaina, he just snuggled his head into her legs and wanted pets. He will bark at strangers if they come to the house but he has been very friendly to every person he has interacted with. Chucky seems to be very calm and relaxed and overall low energy. While I don’t think he gets to go on walks I do not see any issues of him walking and meeting people and dogs on a walk. He shows no signs of being reactive. He does love car rides. I personally love this big guy. He does have that face that is not very expressive so at first I wondered is he nervous…happy… indifferent. But then he came up to me and wanted nothing but love and attention. His face is just his face! He was extremely tolerant of the 2 puppies and overall just a calm big guy.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chucky, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
