My story

This confident, super-smart, happy pup has bounced straight past her rough start in life and is ready for adventure! HISTORY Gypsy was found as a very young baby on a railroad track in a country neighborhood near Kennewick on April 15, 2025. Her rescuers took her to a vet to look for help, and they called us, and she's been thriving in a loving foster home ever since. Gypsy is located in the Tri-Cities, Eastern Washington. We sometimes post dogs on Petfinder showing in other locations in an effort to improve their exposure to a wider range of great adoptive homes. They are all well worth a road trip, even if they don't live close to you! However, if necessary we will provide transport to an approved, committed adoptive home within the Pacific Northwest. SOCIALIZATION Gypsy shares her foster home with dogs, cats, children and adult humans. Between them the various members of her pack are teaching her to be polite - she needed no help learning to be bold, inquisitive and friendly. She would do well as a family dog with children who are polite, kind and gentle. GENERAL TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR Based on her breed combination, we expect Gypsy to be an energetic dog who will be happiest doing a job. She's looking for a family that enjoys an active lifestyle - but, of course, you need to be willing to slow down for a baby and not ask her to do more than her growing joints and bones can handle! She loves toys, and enjoys a good game of tag or keep-away with another playful canine companion. The important thing to note about Gypsy is, SHE IS A PUPPY and puppies are HARD WORK. They chew, they dig, they have sharp claws and needle teeth and they grab your stuff to play keep-away. We teach them as much as we can, but if you take home a puppy, expect to be doing a lot of the same teaching all over again. Please don't apply to adopt her unless you're sure you're up for the challenge! TRAINING Gypsy's house manners are pretty good for such a young pup. She is crate trained - she sleeps through the night in her crate and will quite often choose to nap in her crate during the day. She is reliably potty trained and will ask to go out when she needs to. She already knows the difference between her toys (allowed to chew) and foster mom's stuff (not for chewing!) She's started work on some basic obedience commands: she knows sit and is learning to walk on a leash. HEALTH STATUS Gypsy has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for internal and external parasites. We estimated her age at three weeks on intake, and assigned her March 25, 2025 as her birthday. We expect her to weigh around 45-55 lbs when full grown. ADOPTION For more pictures of Gypsy, please see the Facebook profile at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/edit/a.1001861192094970 If you're interested in adopting, please email HearthfireART@gmail.com, and request an adoption application form. All our dogs are in private foster homes, and we will make arrangements for you to meet this pup (and potentially others) after your adoption application has been approved.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gypsy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
