My story

Microchipped, DOB February 5, 2023 Marcus is a an adorable black cat who loves humans! Marcus’s best friend is Mike, who is his favourite play mate. When you see one of them you know the other is nearby! Marcus takes a bit of time to warm up, but once he realizes you will give him pets and treats you will become his favourite person! Marcus will often start purring once he sees his humans; he purrs so much that he’s even does it while eating! Marcus is a goofy boy, who gets spooked easily by noises and lights. When you first enter a room, he may hide, however with the shake of some treats or calling his name, he will come back out and demand you to pet him! He is learning that the world is not that scary of a place, and trusts his humans more every day! As Mike, the more scared of the two, becomes more socialized, Marcus has become less scared. The two boys lean on each other to feel comfort in their space. History: Mike and Marcus both came from a hoarding situation, and were rescued as a bonded pair. When they first entered their foster parents’ home, they were very scared and required socialization, but found comfort in cuddling with each other. While Marcus came out of his shell relatively quickly, Mike required more patience. Although it has taken time for Marcus and Mike to open up and play with their humans, you can often hear them playing with toys and one another at night! They loves balls, springs, mice… and pretty much any toy you give them! The two have grown to love wand toys too, and enjoy their daily play time with their humans. Marcus is extremely food motivated, and you will quickly become his best friend with lots of treats! His foster parents have to keep an eye on the two boys when they eat, or else Marcus may try to steal Mike’s food! Ideal fit:Marcus and Mike will thrive in a forever home that has lots of patience for them to become comfortable with their new family; these kitties are not suitable for kids. The two boys will need to be in a dedicated room for a period of time until they are comfortable with their new home. The room should have lots of accessible hiding spots, so that the boys can feel comfort in hiding while also staying visible to their humans. Marcus and Mike’s foster parents will provide the forever home with socialization tips and what worked for them! It will be important for their forever home to not rush in letting them acclimatize and to develop a daily routine. Their new family will need to read their cues for when they are comfortable to interact. But with lots of patience, their forever home is sure to fall in love with these two sweethearts. Marcus does have a known cloudy eye that does not seem to bother him. He is living his best life, but his forever home should keep an eye on it. He does get teary eyes only when he's eating, but it doesn't seem to be related to the cloudy eye. Both boys eat a dental treat every day to help maintain their oral health. Note from the foster family:Marcus will make anyone fall in love with him! Although he does get scared, once he realizes you are his friend he is the most affectionate boy! He absolutely loves attention, whether that is in the form of pets, treats, or getting to play! Marcus is a lovebug who cannot wait to find his forever home with his best friend Mike. Thank you for giving two best friends a loving home together! Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair is $175 per cat, versus our standard fee of $225 per adult cat.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Marcus, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
