My story

Socialization/training: Paris was found as a stray in Greece. After avoiding humans for several days, he was finally lured into rescue. He has adapted well to living in doors. He is potty trained. He is timid, but loves to be in the same area as people. He is timid though not reactive when approached. He will benefit from a patient adopter in a home that shows him he is safe and loved. Paris has been around other dogs and does well with them. On a leash he pretty much ignores other dogs. When allowed to run around the fenced in backyard, he has a great time. He loves being chased or being the chaser. Crate trained:  When we leave the house we crate Paris. He isn’t always thrilled with it. He might bark for a short time, but then calms down. We’re working with Paris towards earning whole house privileges when we’re gone.. At night we have found it best to crate him in our bedroom. He does great throughout the night.  Leash trained:  Paris is wonderful on a leash. He will pull if there is quick motion- an evil squirrel scampering away or suspicious bird flying by.   He calms down with the slight correction of pulling him back with the leash.  Most of the time there is slack in the leash while he walks at the same pace as his human. Activity Level:  Paris loves running around our fenced in backyard. We have taken him on regular walks- anywhere from a .75 mile neighborhood walk to a 5 mile trail hike through woods and up and down hills. He could best be described as medium energy. He enjoys running around the yard and going for walks, but is relaxed in the house. Fence:  We have a 4 ft high split rail and wire fence. Paris has not shown any interest in going over or through the fence, even when ridding the area of squirrels or rabbits. Behavior: Paris is a sweet dog who needs some gentle training to overcome his timidity. He is very good around people, but shy. His recall is unreliable, and he will benefit from continued training. We usually have him on a long lead in the backyard, especially if we’ll be leaving soon and will need him in the house. Paris has been eating well.  Medical History: Paris is healthy, neutered, UTD on vaccinations and HW negative. He was given a clean bill of health at his latest wellness check on 5/20/2025. Paris is microchipped and has been on HWP. Paris originates from Greece/Turkey where Leishmaniasis is endemic. He tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150-$250 or if your vet is willing to send the test to a veterinary college lab, cost can be as low as $80. Foster Comments:  Paris would do well in a quiet house. He is easily startled by unexpected noises. He will pop his head up, or turn towards the noise, but there are no negative behaviors. He is a sweet dog and will reach his potential with gentle guidance. It is great seeing him running around the yard with another dog and enjoying himself. Another dog in the house might assure him that all is safe and well. As mentioned earlier, he is great on a leash and he does very well in a car. I also have to mention that Paris is very handsome. Whenever we are in public people comment about how good looking he is.In the time we have fostered him, we can tell Paris likes being a good companion. Whether on walks, or relaxing in the house, he enjoys being with his people. Foster Location: Warminster PA Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home. If interstate transport is provided for your adopted dog, there will be an additional charge of $50.00 for the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (“Health Certificate”).  Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000-mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000-mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far Western states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions. ##2382534##
