My story

šŸ”„ Meet Phoenix: The Dog Who Rose from the Ashes and Is Now Ready to Set Your Heart on Fire šŸ”„ Once upon a time, Phoenix was the victim of some truly awful treatment—the kind no dog (or anyone) should ever have to endure. But don’t worry, this isn’t a sad story. Because this chapter is all about his comeback. Phoenix was rescued by Broken Tail Rescue, nursed back to health, and while doing it, became a local legend. After a long quarantine (no diseases, just extra caution), we’re thrilled to report: Phoenix has made a remarkable recovery and is almost ready to leave his VIP isolation suite and move in with a family of his own. His foster mom, who basically adores him, sums it up like this: ā€œPhoenix is an amazing dog.ā€ And she’s not exaggerating. This boy is pure love. Despite everything he’s been through, Phoenix is bursting with affection, gentle as can be, and ready to devote himself fully to his forever humans. What makes Phoenix the total package? Let’s roll the highlight reel: • 🐶 Loves every dog and every person he’s ever met • 🐱 Has let a cat lick his face without batting an eye (we cannot guarantee how he’d handle a cat with a dramatic flair for fleeing, but he seems like a gentleman) • āœ‚ļø You can cut his nails, clean his ears, or even fish a mystery item out of his mouth—he’s that chill • šŸš— Loves the car • 🐾 Walks like a dream: great recall, no pulling, just tail wags and vibes • šŸ” Doesn’t bark or jump around the house • 🧘 Never marks, humps, or acts out—basically the anti-chaos dog • ā¤ļø Has the soul of a snuggler and the heart of a hero • šŸ‘ļø Soulful eyes: they’re two different colors. Now for his kryptonite… 🄺 Phoenix really doesn’t want to be left alone. After four months of quarantine where his foster mom was pretty much his entire world, he gets anxious when she’s gone. We’re talking about a dog who has broken out of metal crates and is very vocal about his feelings when left behind. It’s not personal—he just loves deeply and has had more than his fair share of loss. He’s working through it, but his future family will need to commit to helping him build confidence and feel safe when home alone. Ideal Home for Phoenix? āœ”ļø People home a lot āœ”ļø Other dogs to hang with āœ”ļø Older kids would be great too āœ”ļø Patience, love, and a willingness to say, ā€œOkay buddy, we’re working on it.ā€ Phoenix is expected to be ready to go home in mid-July—and he’s absolutely worth the wait. šŸ’„ This isn’t just adopting a dog. This is adopting a once-in-a-lifetime soul who already knows what it’s like to lose everything—and is so, so ready to love with everything he’s got. Apply for Phoenix today. His next great love story could start with you. šŸ¾ā¤ļø If you are interested in finding out more about Phoenix, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Phoenix is in Leicester, MA. The adoption fee is $400. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Phoenix, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
