But don’t worry, this isn’t a sad story. Because this chapter is all about his comeback. Phoenix was rescued by Broken Tail Rescue, nursed back to health, and while doing it, became a local legend. After a long quarantine (no diseases, just extra caution), we’re thrilled to report: Phoenix has made a remarkable recovery and is almost ready to leave his VIP isolation suite and move in with a family of his own. His foster mom, who basically adores him, sums it up like this: “Phoenix is an amazing dog.” And she’s not exaggerating. This boy is pure love. Despite everything he’s been through, Phoenix is bursting with affection, gentle as can be, and ready to devote himself fully to his forever humans. What makes Phoenix the total package? We’re talking about a dog who has broken out of metal crates and is very vocal about his feelings when left behind. It’s not personal—he just loves deeply and has had more than his fair share of loss. He’s working through it, but his future family will need to commit to helping him build confidence and feel safe when home alone. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
