My story

Breed: Terrier, American Pit Bull Mix Sex: Female, Spayed Age: 1 year, 3 months (dob 2/6/2024) Weight: 70 lbs Medical Needs: None. Housebroken: Yes. But when she gets excited to see you, she will have moments of tinkle that gets out. It's not hard to get her use to a routine. She'll signal when she has use the bathroom. Crate trained: Yes. But definitely not a fan about being put in a crate. To prevent from going in, she'll instantly request a belly rub (which I abide - "Rub Mattie's Belly"), in hopes that you'll forget that you was attempting to place her in the crate. She will go in and will eventually settle down. Good in the car: I haven't experienced any problem issues with Mathilda in the car. Every car ride, when she wanted to look out the window, she's done so and then proceeded to lay down. When I previously had her as a puppy (a year ago), over extended distances, she shown signs of motion sickness, but I haven't experienced any issues with motion sickness with her this go round. Good on a leash: A work in progress. With some redirection from her future family, Mathilda is going to do amazingly on a leash. She absolutely loves to be walked and already showing signs of progress. Energy Level: High energy but will relax when permitted outside to sunbathe. The sun is her instant kryptonite, absolutely loves, loves, loves to sunbathe. Need a fenced in yard: Yes, Mathilda will absolutely need a fenced in yard or constant access to a fenced in dog park. She loves to run around and play ball. It gives her an opportunity to burn off some of her extra energy and enjoy the sun. Dog Friendly: Yes, she's currently in a foster home with a 1yr old Schnauzer mix dog that she absolutely enjoys playing with, every opportunity that she gets. Previously when she was a puppy (a year ago), in a previous foster home prior to coming to Delaware, she was around other dogs and it was reported that she got along fairly well with each of them. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its new home? No, Mathilda does not need another dog in her new home. She's fine being with other dogs are being alone and getting all the attention. Mathilda will be happy either way. Cat Friendly? Personally, Mathilda is currently in a foster home with no cats. But, when we go for walks and she spots neighborhood cats, she doesn't pay them any attention. Previously when she was a puppy (a year ago), in a previous foster home prior to coming to Delaware, she was in a home with 2 cats and no issues were reported. Kid Friendly: Yes... absolutely. She's currently in a foster home with a 7yr old. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with supervision. Mathilda loves kids. Especially kids who will play with her, run with her, adore her, and give her all the love and attention. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? A year ago Mathilda aka "Mattie" was adopted and unfortunately returned to her same GRR foster family due to no fault of her own. She is still her very amazing, joyous, lovable self, just in a bigger size than the puppy that was adopted a year ago. She still has a very special captivating personality about her. Her beautiful eyes are still so hypnotizing. It'll be absolutely hard not to instantly fall in love with her when you see her. Everyone that sees her still talks about her unique patterns of gray on white markings throughout her body. She has a lot of energy that will instantly come to a halt when she gets an opportunity to sunbathe. Since returning back to us, she's already back to routine and has no issues with taking directions. Her future family will need to understand the importance of the two-week acclimation period for "Mattie" to get her use to being a part of the family, truly welcoming her, and loving "Mattie" into their family. With Mathilda having now been through a number of foster homes, having been adopted, and now returned, it's more than important than ever that Mathilda's forever family will definitely need to have patience with her. She is looking for a family that will absolutely love on her, adore her, and give her the needed attention for her to continue to grow into her best, amazing self.
