My story

Simba Sam (ACCT-A-220698) came to the shelter on May 19th, 2025, after the passing of his owner. He was surrendered by a family member who had been caring for him temporarily but was unable to continue. Originally acquired from a family friend, Simba is now hoping to find a new home where he can feel safe and understood. This four-year-old orange tabby has medium energy and is adjusting to major life changes with a need for patience and space. His previous surrender profile noted that he had some litter box accidents and did not do well around dogs. He was also involved in a scratch incident when a person tried to break up a fight between him and a resident dog—suggesting he would do best in a dog-free home. Simba has shown that with strangers and even children, he’s okay as long as he’s not rushed and his space is respected. Since arriving, Simba has displayed significant stress in the shelter, including hissing, growling, and lunging in the kennel. He was started on gabapentin to help reduce his anxiety and underwent a neuter surgery with a smooth recovery. Shelter staff noted that he appears to be in good overall health and has received his core vaccines. Simba Sam is looking for a calm, experienced adopter or rescue placement where he can decompress and begin to feel secure. With time, trust, and the right environment, this handsome guy has the potential to settle in and show his true colors. Behavioral Notes: Per staff on 6/2: Ditzy, goofy, floppy, and a fiend for catnip

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Simba Sam, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
