My story

Susie is a petite beauty with a gorgeous tabby and white coat and soulful eyes that tell the story of a life that hasn’t always been kind or comfortable. Though she’s around a year old, she’s so tiny that she still looks like a kitten! Surrendered by her previous owner, Susie came into foster care clearly carrying the weight of past trauma. She flinches easily and can lash out when she feels unsafe, which makes us think that some humans in her life were cruel to her. But, underneath her fear is a sweet, affectionate little soul just waiting to trust again. Susie is learning, slowly but surely, that humans can be kind. When she feels comfortable, she shows glimpses of the loving cat she truly is, seeking affection and even leaning into pets. Her journey requires patience, understanding, and a home where she can move at her own pace without pressure. Because she can react defensively when frightened, Susie will need an experienced, cat-savvy adopter and a calm, adult-only household where she can feel safe. Even with her tough exterior, Susie’s playful side shines through—she loves batting around small toys and is especially captivated by automatic toys that spin around or scurry across the floor. Watching her get lost in the simple joy of play is a heart-melting reminder that she’s still just a young kitty who longs for a happy and carefree life. Susie’s perfect match will be an adopter who can see past her fear to the sweet, resilient heart underneath.
