My story

Meet Houdini, a four-year-old feline with a heart as brave as his namesake. His gentle, shy demeanor is a testament to his friendly nature. He's not one to make the first move, but give him a moment and he'll warm up to you, showing his brave side. Houdini is a master at making friends and stealing hearts. He's spent a year at the rescue mastering the art of friendship, proving that even the most reserved cats can be the most loving. Adopt Houdini and discover the magic of his companionship. His bravery and friendliness are waiting to enrich your life. Houdini is FIV+. If you don't know what FIV is, it stands for feline immunodeficiency virus and typically causes a weakening of the cat’s immune system... only cats can get FIV, people and dogs cannot.  The most common route of infection is a deep bite wound from an FIV+ cat to another cat... they can live with other non FIV + cats- sharing food/litter/water without transmitting the disease onto other cats.  FIV  isn't a big deal... unfortunately many FIV+ cats are overlooked in shelters because people see this and think it's a terrible disease and the cats won't live long... However FIV+ cats can live long healthy lives just like other cats! There is no medication to treat an FIV+ positive cat.  Houdini s also part of the Take A Chance On Me Program. This means his adoption fee has been reduced for the right home. If you are interested in adopting, please fill put an application online at    ahimsahaven.org . Meet and greets are with an approved application by appointment only.   As always, cats that are ready to be adopted are spayed/neutered, have age appropriate shots, are micro-chipped, dewormed/deflead, and FEL/FIV tested.May 30, 2025, 10:50 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Houdini, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
