My story

Meet Pierre (petey for short) Age- Around 7 Breed- Toy Poodle What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? Pierre was once a very loved pet, however his mom passed away and he was left in a breeding kennel for years until he made his way to us. Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? His main caregiver is my husband as he takes him outside the most and is up early with him to feed him. And he is definitely his favorite person. Right now Pierre lives with a adult male and female. As well as two dogs. One older and one younger, which he gets along with both very well. There is also a 5-year-old cat. Although the cat has her reservation, Pierre is not affected in any way. He doesn't try to torment her and just leaves her alone. Are you good with kids? What age ranges? Currently it is unknow if he has any experiences with kids Are you good with other dogs? He is great with other dogs. We have a 7 year old female who is very territorial. Pierre gets a long very well. And just like our cat he does not torment or try to overturn her power. We also have a 1-year-old, very timid dog. She likes to play when she likes to play and not other time. Pierre follows her lead and doesn't force any interactions with her. Are you good with cats? Our cat is the boss of the house, like most cats are. She took FOREVER to even tolerate being in the same room with our 1-year-old dog. Pierre has been able to take snoozes on the lap of one of us with her and no issues are to be had. Are you housebroken? What is your current potty routine? Pierre is not housebroken. He is in a kennel when we are not home or overnight. He does well and has not had an accident in the kennel. He wears a wrap during the time out of the kennel as he still will lift his leg. But has gotten better. He has had a couple of accidents with poo but is doing better with waiting till he goes outside. We have not recognized any signs he uses to tell us he needs to go out. But we are taking him about every two - three hours and it is working well. When he goes outside, he likes to find the perfect spot before going so some patience is needed. However, I think it's more a of a focus on making sure to get other scents covered. Do you like car rides? Right now he appears to be fearful of car rides unless he is on your lap. Do you like walks? How are you on a leash? He becomes excited on a leash or when he's outside. I'm sure with practice he would love them. Do you like toys? What is your favorite toy? He does not have any interest in any toys. Do you know any commands/tricks? If you say his name he tends to stop and respond. Such as if you are telling him no or to come to you. But no other commands/tricks that we have seen. How are your house manners? Pierre's house manners are excellent. He does not beg, he is a gentleman. He does get excited when he sees you but in a good way. Describe your personality-Pierre is the sweetest. He shows you the purest love and appreciation with the wag of his tell and spinning around in excitement when he sees you. He wants no more than to be near his favorite humans. He eats up a great snuggle. Describe your perfect home-A perfect home would warm, patient, and full of love. A calm and safe space where Pierre can learn to trust again—whether it's a cozy apartment or a house with a yard. The perfect family will offer a gentle routine, soft beds, yummy treats, and lots of reassurance. No experience needed—just a big heart, a little patience, and the willingness to help Pierre settle into his forever home. You provide the love—he'll provide the snuggles and never-ending love.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pierre, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
