My story

Hi, I’m Josie! I’m about 8 months old and I'm a Australian Shepherd/Lab cross. I’m totally house trained and do amazing in my crate, though I’d rather be snuggled up next to you if I had the choice. I get told I'm a good girl a lot by my foster parents and well, to be honest, that's because I am! I’m a happy go lucky girl who loves to be pet or played with, so be prepared because belly rubs just might be my favourite thing. I am super friendly to everyone I meet and I might even try to jump up when I get too excited, but I am working very hard on that. I used to be very scared of the car but you should just see the progress I've made, and in record time! Going on walks, I do tend to pull because I am so excited. I just got a harness and I definitely don’t pull as much but hey can you blame me? it's just so fun! Treats go a long way with me, as I am very food motivated and eager to learn. I have already mastered certain commands like “sit” and my favourite, “shake a paw”. I even know to wait until you give me the go ahead to eat my breakfast and dinner. I grew up with a doggie sister, so I would be fine in a home with another dog preferably my size so we could play together! I haven’t been around kids much either, but I am really am a gentle giant and would adapt very fast. I almost forgot to mention, I am super easy to entertain...just give me a bone or a stick outside and I'll be busy for hours! I would do best in a home with a large backyard so I can run around and hangout, because that is where I prefer to spend my time. I’m smart, I’m loyal, and I have so much love to give. I am just waiting for my forever home to share that with! I have been heartworm tested (negative), dewormed and tick and flea treated, microchipped, had my first set of vaccines and am booked in for my spay surgery soon. My adoption fee is $500. You must be 21 years old to adopt and provide vet and personal references. An application to adopt me can be found on our website www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com. Click on Adopt, then Dogs for Adoption, and scroll to the bottom of the page. All applications are reviewed, and if we feel you might be a good fit, you will be contacted to arrange a home visit as well as for permission to speak with your vet. Repeated phone calls and emails with not advance your application. We are a volunteer, foster based rescue and there is no opportunity to meet her before an application has been approved. We thankyou for respecting these guidelines.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Josie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
