Hallie is a 3-year-old black and white Terrier mix with a heart of gold and a zest for life! She was handpicked by our adoption team to come up on transport from Louisiana, and despite her long wait down south, she’s stayed the sweetest, happiest pup you could ever meet. Hallie absolutely loves being outside—whether she's zooming around the yard, chewing on sticks, or going for long walks. She’s not the biggest fan of coming back inside and will sometimes play keep-away at the door, so her amazing foster mom will carry her in. She’s also a big fan of car rides and cozy naps, especially after a day of adventuring. She’s working hard on leash walking and has made so much progress! Hallie can be shy and timid when meeting new people or hearing sudden noises like the TV, but with a little patience and love, she warms up into a goofy, playful girl who wants nothing more than to follow you around. She’s not very food-motivated (except when cheese is involved!), which makes training a bit of a creative activity, but she already knows how to sit and is learning how to come when called with lots of praise. Hallie sleeps soundly through the night—usually until about 10:30—and spends her days being curious, sweet, and full of love. She might hop up on counters to explore, but she’s polite and never tries to steal food. Hallie is a special girl who just needs a little time to open up—and when she does, she’ll melt your heart. When Hallie arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The team believes the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Hallie to heal is in a loving forever home. If you choose to adopt her, our clinic staff will support you every step of the way. The treatment process typically lasts about three months and includes simple at-home care to keep her safe while she recovers. A follow-up test at six months completes the process, and most dogs—like Hallie—recover beautifully! It's also important to know that Heartworm can only be spread through mosquito bites, not from pet to pet. Stop in and meet Hallie in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email bloomingdale@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 90, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hallie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
