My story

Body of a chihuahua. Spirit of a dragon.  Rocket Rita is a powerhouse small breed mix with all of the energy and drive of a malinois packed into a 16lb 15" body rippling with muscle and physical ability. She has an estimated birthdate of 04/22/2021.  Rita came to the Mission from SCRAPS after a mass removal and histopathology report determined she had mammary cancer. We then took her for specialty imaging to determine her cancer had not metastasized, which ultrasound indicated it had not, and the rest of the impacted mammary tissue was then removed to ensure any remaining cancerous cells were excized. At this point, all diagnostics indicate Rita is cancer free, but dogs that have had mammary masses in the past are at greater risk of developing more in the future. For this reason, Rita's future adopter should understand that she may need additional masses removed from her mammary chains in the future and neglecting to do so could cause her life to be shortened, so it will have to remain a top priority.  Rita is crate trained, leash trained, house trained, and loves car rides. She can sleep through the night in her kennel or in bed. She is overall a loud dog who barks both out of excitement and frustration. She is more than willing to help you get evicted from any multi unit rental, so unless your dwelling is free standing, she's not likely the best match. For the sake of sanity and continued engaged learning for all parties, she is conditioned to a kimberland collars mini prong with rubber tips, and a bark collar as necessary.   Rita can co house with other dogs that have exceptionally high social IQ, but she has strong Napoleon Syndrom and thinks it's her god given right to hand out cans of whoop a$$ to any dog who crosses her path. If she goes barking up the wrong tree, she is very likely to instigate a fight and become injured. She is a bully to cats.  Rita loves people and would be fine with children as long as she was not antagonized. She has never struggled to stick up for herself.  Rita has a true competitive spirit, and her cancer scare is doing nothing to dampen her personality which burns bright like a white hot flame. She is a great hiker, has experience mountain biking, and comes with an AKC canine partners listing which allows her to be registered for any AKC sport trials. She has two qualifying FastCAT courses and we will expand from there. Her ideal family would be one who is active and enjoys a dog with a lot of mental and physical ability.  Rita's adoption fee is $200 and includes her medical records, leash, collar, ID tag, kimberland micro prong, and a sample of her food. Murci's Mission will also continue to offer support by helping Rita's future family schedule her at the low cost clinic should any future masses need to be removed. To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application.   Thank you for checking out Rocket Rita!  ##2372530##
