My story

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.Castin is on the at-risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display challenging behavior during interactions. He is extremely intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for his mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. It is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with feline body language, overstimulation, rough play, and who have the time to invest in managing these behaviors on a consistent basis to avoid (further) bite/scratch incidents. What my friends at ACC say about me:This cat displays fearful behaviors I have potential behavioral challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me Due to prior owner history, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced cat parent homeCastin tolerates attention and some petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only homePlease check here for updated adoption hours.A volunteer writes: Enjoying his sun bath in what can only be described as a "big stretch" with paws extended as far as they could go, Castin seems to have never met a stranger. He got right up to for a delightful sniff and snuggle combo that left me trying to think of ways to become his best friend. We cuddled for a little while and I quickly learned that Castin is a play enthusiast! Good thing I had a pipe cleaner feather ready. Although, once I showed it to him, he carried it off to the corner of his condo before realizing we could actually play together. Interactive playtime was an absolute hit and time spent with Castin feels like being at the very best kind of party. He makes his new friends feel welcomed, seen, and loved for exactly who they are, which is what we want Castin to find too. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 18.2 Age: 3yrs 7mths 2wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Castin, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
