** $820 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Zina ACCT-A-220751 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Zina must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER, or RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, JUNE 14th by 10:00 am. Should Zina’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Meet Zina! This sweet 3-year-old female dog who was surrendered by her previous owners on 5/23, as they could no longer care for her. Though she was a bit shy at first, Zina has proven to be a brave and curious girl during her time with us. She loves using her nose to explore and would thrive with a family that can keep her mind active and engaged. During her stay at the shelter, Zina has shown her loving and curious side to staff and volunteers. She’s been noted to love going outside and going on sniffari’s! While she can be a bit shy at first, she opens up if you bring her some yummy high value treats. This loving girl is looking for a home that is preferably adult only or with kids 15+. She’s had positive interactions with other dogs at the shelter and may benefit from a canine fur friend that can bring out her fun and silly side. If you are looking for a gal to add to the family who loves spending quality time and cuddles, then come see Zina today! High energy. Loved sniff maze, brakes going back in kennel. Go slow, give her time and she moves again on her own. 5/24 - No issues on the walk and medium energy level. 5/27 - No issues on the walk and medium energy level. Very sweet, easy to walk, very friendly. 5/31 - No issues on the walk and high energy level. Pulls, likes to go side to side. Use treats to get back in - Food motivated! 6/4 - No issues on the walk and medium energy level. Sweet girl! On 6/2 per staff: Volunteer noted 6/4 Zina was super excited to get out in the fresh air. She pulls a little on her leash but if you redirect her attention back to you she’ll come walk with you until she gets excited again. She loves to play and be scratched and pet all over. Probably a great little adventure friend. Super easy in and out of her kennel. Per day trip 5/26: She is such a sweet girl, pretty good on walks. Some leash training down the road would be good, she bobs and weaves during her walk. She is very interested and curious about people. You could tell she wanted to say hi to strangers. She didn't show any signs of aggression towards dogs she saw passing her by on walks either. On 5/26 per staff: I sent Zina on a day trip today and she was very brave! She is nervous about things going over her head and handling that required hovering so she leash dodged a bit and needed a harness that was easier to get on. The adopt me harness that is her size has a smaller head hole which made her too nervous so I found a harness with a bigger head hole and had no issues getting it on and adjusting it on her! She would just dodge the first one but I didn't want to cause her unnecessary stress since she was being brave trusting me so far. She did well meeting the day trip fosters in the lobby, but had trouble getting in the car. She was getting stressed with the encouragement/pressure to get in. When I went to lift her in, she let out a big stress yawn and seemed uncomfortable. The day trip foster fortunately had high value treats on her which worked wonders! Zina got her front paws in for the treats and as she reached for them, I quickly lifted the lower body in and this time she gave no issues. Upon returning, the day trip fosters said she did great! On 5/26 per staff: Took for an adoption meet. Was excited to meet new people but a little unsure on how much attention she wanted. Would solicit pets and then bounce away and sniff around. Very friendly and tried sneaking away with a staff member's hoagie when left on a cart but was easily redirected away from such a high value food item. Did get scared and pulled away when going into the kennel due to her neighbor hard barking and snarling at the kennel. On 5/25 per staff: Playgroup Notes - Steerable, loose, tolerant, playful On 5/24 per volunteer: I approached her kennel and she was standing quietly, soft eyes, low tail, and was easy to leash. She is strong on leash. She excelled at the sniff maze and went from snuffle mat to mat like a pro. She was tolerant of the handlers being nearby why she ate and searched with tail down, loose body, ears to the side. Returning to kennel she would stop and back up, then after a few seconds she would move forward again. Easy to remove the leash. On 5/24 per staff: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION KNOWN HISTORY: Owner surrender KENNEL PRESENTATION: Zina was in her crate sitting at the front with soft eyes and a wagging tail. She was very dodgy of the leash and extremely nervous once I put the leash on. It took a couple tries but once secured she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately – very flighty and nervous, lowered body and tucked tail HANDLING : In the room, Zina had a low tail and was nervously sniffing around. She was avoidant but tried to be curious, peering under the desk and chairs until someone called to her. Once called she will come up slowly with low wags and accept pets. She gets nervous easily and will run away but comes back for affection. Once you go slow she allowed all handling and was very treat motivated .this strong girl was able to reach the treats on her own but took them from me very gently. She showed no knowledge of tricks but was patiently waiting for them. PLAY: Tried to engage but got nervous TOYS: No interest COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Blue MEDICAL NOTES: 5/29 per exam: Zina has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold". They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection. PCR test taken & came back negative for pneumovirus. On 5/23 per intake exam: Eyes - slightly pink Ears - clean no wax Nose - clean Mouth/Teeth/Gums - white teeth oink and moist gums Coat & Skin - clean no fleas Urogenital - unable to check due to restraint Gait/Mobility - no lameness Attitude: BAR ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
