Loki is a handsome young Alaskan Klee Kai that we pulled from the shelter because he had a severely fractured front leg in need of amputation. What we then discovered is that he also had a severe fracture to his pelvis (probable cause being hit by a car) so this sweet, shy little man had to have that repaired too! Because he is an otherwise healthy little guy, we decided to have both done at the same time along with being neutered so he didn't have to return for multiple surgeries. The amputation went great, but the FHO on his pelvis was hard on him so he will need a bit to recover and go through PT which he had now started and he is doing better at! Loki is sooo sweet and and seems to do good with dogs and cats but he is a jumper, even when he had his fractures!!! So a new adopter would need to know that. But he such a sweet and adorable little guy! This little Alaskan breed has all of the characteristics of his breed which is he loves to talk, doesn't like to be behind barriers so a crate is not an option for this guy, and will try to escape and look for his "person" until he has found that bond. He is also soooooo smart and needs lots of stimulation. He can be a little more shy with men but warms up pretty quickly to women and is really a sweet boy! He does have fairly intense separation anxiety and while males do not add to the anxiousness, they are not a presence that is helpful to Loki to alleviate his separation anxiety. Again he is a bit anxious when meeting new people but will give kisses when he gets to know you-awwwww! His trigger is definitely his person leaving the house and he is smart enough to know when that is about to happen! But he can have more than one person, but that person he bonds with is generally not male. He hasn't shown aggression to males it is important to know that! Loki does need to go to someone that knows these breeds and we are still working on his separation anxiety which is pretty bad (poor little guy). Loki is on meds for his anxiety that he will need to continue to be on for quite some time so a new adopter would need to know that that will be needed. The poor little guy can be destructive when not on them so these will be a must to help him settle. As long as Loki is getting the amount of exercise that he needs we do not think a fence is required, but he is a young guy and these breeds not lots of activity so he will definitely need to be walked and kept active! It is important to note that because of his separation anxiety Loki will need someone to be home more often than not so someone that works from home would be ideal. Someone retired could be good for Loki and if you are traveling a lot a plan would need to be in place because this doggo really likes his people!August 12, 2025, 5:21 pm
