My story

Name, age, breed: Drake, 3 years old, hound mix.Likes: cuddling, going for walks to enjoy all the new smells, car rides, squeaky toys, butt scratches, food enrichment toys, your personal space, to give and receive kisses.Dislikes: tail being touched, bath time, loud scary noises and new things he’s unsure of.What would be the ideal home? Would benefit with an active home that can give him at least 3 walks a day with a backyard he can run in and people to play with as he gets bored quickly. He loves to sit and take naps on the couch and your bed, sometimes your face too so probably a house that allows dog on the furniture.Good with other cats? Unknown.Good with dogs? Unknown.Good with children? Unknown. Temperament: Friendly, active, adventurous, shy, professional crybaby, certified counter surfer, goofball, big sweetheart and sometimes independent.Motivators? Any food in general (especially food YOU are eating) and sometimes toys.Any commands? Sit, down, stay, high-five, paw, speak, (almost) spin.House trained? Yes. Will scratch and whine at the door to let you know he needs to go out.Crate trained? Partially. He goes in no problem but loves to tell you all about how you should let him out. He does settle down for bedtime. How long will it take to settle into a new environment? A few weeks to a few months.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? He seems a bit shy with men and he howls at them, but he warms up rather quickly to them. He flinches a lot, especially with fast movements and loud noises (i.e something falling to the floor or fireworks). He paces a lot so we try to keep him as busy as possible! As mentioned before, he is a professional crybaby and cries for just about everything! He is very gentle when play biting with you. Very good leash walker and will pull only a little bit if he sees another dog. Prey drive is not bad at all, especially for a hound. He does love to ignore you sometimes.Food gets him to stop ignoring you though. Be wary this dog might as well be a French breed because he loves to French kiss you when you least expect it.If you think Drake is the one for you - fill out an application today!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Drake, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
