My story

This beauty is full of bounce and personality. Shakira greets everyone at the front of her kennel with a wiggly body and happy paws, excited for attention and ready to go. Once she’s leashed up, she’s eager to get out and explore. On walks, Shakira is strong and curious, she shows her true puppy-like charm—wiggly, playful, and super affectionate. She can get a bit jumpy and mouthy when overstimulated, but is very responsive to redirection, especially with treats. She knows “sit” and takes snacks gently from your hand. While she hasn't shown much interest in toys or play just yet, her energy and personality shine through. She’ll thrive with someone ready to provide structure, exercise, and plenty of love. If you're looking for a joyful companion who just needs a little guidance and a lot of love, Shakira might be your girl! Meet her at ACCT Philly any day between 10 am and 6 pm BEHAVIOR 05/21/2025 volunteer notes: Kennel presentation: Shakira was at the front of her kennel jumping on it with her two front paws with a very wiggly body. As I opened the kennel door to lasso her she continued to have her two front paws on the kennel and she did keep leash dodging out of excitement for a couple minutes but I was able to lasso her over the head. she then jumped right our of her kennel. Leash: moderate pulling Handling: Shakira was very strong on leash, when passing another dog in the kennels she did begin to bark at the other dog. I brought her in the volunteer office for her eval and she was very wiggly and hyper. At times she would get very jumpy and mouthy but could be redirected by asking her to sit or with a treat. She displayed a lot of puppy like mannerisms. She knows sit and takes treats nicely out of your hand. Outside she seems to be housebroken as she went to the bathroom right away. Returning her to kennel I had no issues as she hopped right in.
