The perfect dog may be a subjective thing but if you like to live, laugh, love I am pretty sure this boy is your dream boy! This is Sonny Sunshine an absolute cutie, fun-loving, smart, friendly, with a warm presence and a loving nature that isn’t needy or pushy. Take a look at how amazing he is then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/dNNmBR-S8u8 The day I met Sonny, he showed up and changed the mood of my whole day, literally bringing emotional sunshine to an otherwise grey day. He has a lightness to him that made us all giggle and laugh. Sonny is so fortunate and is being fostered in a loving, dedicated foster home who agree, he is a joy! Weighing an adorable 32 lbs, Sonny is a petite boy and is estimated to be just over 1 year old and essentially full-grown. Breed and age are details we cannot offer 100% certainty on given the nature of him being a rescue. This is a boy that is the perfect to-go size! He can load up into the car easily and will happily curl up for a nap or enjoy the breeze if the window is down. All the makings of a great weekend get-away kind of guy. Sonny’s fosters share that Sonny is consistently welcoming, and sweet to everyone, from guests in their home to new friends he meets during patio moments spent together, and they praise Sonny for being a great patio dog thanks to her size and friendly nature. That friendly nature carries right over to dogs. From dog parks to doggie day care, Sonny is a fast-friend in every sense of the word! This boy has a love for playful dogs and a good game of chase. He meets new dogs politely on-leash and is welcoming of play while also knowing how to read a dog that is not interested. He currently lives with a senior Chihuahua that is rarely open to playing and Sonny understands and respects that. He will still give him a play bow and a few little barks just in case he changes his mind but that hasn’t happened yet. Luckily Sonny’s fosters understand his love of play and ensures that he goes to doggie day care and local dog parks. This is undoubtedly a boy who would love at least one doggie playmate in the home. A dog that enjoys chase and some occasional excited bouncy play would be best. He had a great connection with a female dog who let him leap over her while zooming around the yard together. Sonny is well suited for a life with a house and a yard. Thanks to him being fostered while he waits for his adoption day, he is fully house and crate trained with great basic leash skills. He has a great pace and is able to pass dogs calmly, though occasionally he will get a little excited passing a dog he sees a playful friend in but if living with a playmate this will be less of a focus of his. No kitties for Sonny though, his love of chase showed when he met our house cat. He was eager to make a new furry friend but in a way that cats do not enjoy. Sonny’s warm, easy-going personality make him a joy to be around, with a beautiful balance of cuddly and independent. He enjoys the simple things and is ready to slip right into your routine, adding to the warmth and laughs of a loving home. Sonny is a dream and he is ready to come home! Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
