FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Greta. This green-eyed beauty was found as a stray along a UPS route and the driver gave her to one of our fosters. Beyond her beauty, she's a smart, active little girl. We are calling her a husky mix, with what, we are not quite sure, maybe shepherd, so a Shepsky? Based on her age about 12 weeks, we think she will be in the 65# range - she's only about 15# currently. She's not 'huge' for her age. In her foster home she is confident but also respectful of the other dogs. Greta is curious and getting all new experiences in her new space. She's learning crate life and can be a little vocal when unhappy... go figure! :) Greta is very sweet and likely going to be a dog that will love daily walks and hiking adventures. We always love another friendly dog in the home to show puppies the way - or she needs to be socialized with other young dogs to keep her happy. A fully fenced yard would be great. She just arrived to WA and we will get more photos! This puppy is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated to appropriate age when they go home. She will need more puppy shots at 16 weeks. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You must be willing to start socializing and training as soon vaccinations are completed at 16 weeks. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoptions typically take place in Marysville. If you are planning on a vacation or have an issue that may delay your ability to pick up your puppy within a few days of approval, please let us know. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Greta, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
