My story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet the Baseball litter. Our CA rescue partner reached out about a litter of 'husky' puppies and one look at mom, the puppy coordinator said she was likely a white GSD mix, not husky. However, daddy is definitely a husky mix and gave his stunning blue eyes to ALL of his puppies! They were born in early March and are about 11 weeks old. They are big floppy puppies, in the 16-20# range and will likely be about 70+ pounds when fully grown. Don't let the Husky or GSD part scare you - honestly - whatever the 'mix' is has made them super friendly, curious and playful, they are sweet and floppy! At this point, they are not even using their Husky genes to 'communicate.' They are lovely and very nice. Rockie (and her sisters) are pretty confident. Rockie and her brother Mariner have the tell tale GSD coloring. There is a fun combination of floppy and perky ears. This puppy is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated to appropriate age when they go home. They will need more puppy shots at 13 and 17 weeks. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You must be willing to start socializing and training as soon vaccinations are completed at 16 weeks. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. If you are planning on a vacation or have an issue that may delay your ability to pick up your puppy within a few days of approval, please let us know. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rockie (Baseball litter), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
