Cheeto is an English Mastiff, born in 5/29/24. Cheeto is looking for a new place with his BIG brother, Moose (more to come about him later). Cheeto is still a puppy and he has energy! He also still mouths when he gets excited (just like all puppies!), but he does know how to get his squeaky toy without mouthing people or pulling on clothes. He loves to play fetch. Cheeto is a typical guard dog, he will bark at people walking down the sidewalk or up to the door. Cheeto is a little fearful around new people. He's not aggressive, but he wants to come to you when he's ready and not have you touch him because that makes him uncomfortable. He will sniff, then back up and bark, sniff again, bark and repeat this for about 15 minutes. And then he'll let you touch himl It takes him about 30 minutes to realize that he's safe with you. Once he trusts you, he is such a GREAT dog! Cheeto is fearful of other active dogs. He has puppy play dates and friends, but he likes other giant breeds that are calm - which is one reason he gets along so well with Moose. Moose is a St. Bernard, born 2020. He is dog friendly, cat friendly and friendly with kids of all ages. He's not as scared around new people like Cheeto is, so Moose really helps Cheeto feel more comfortable. Cheeto and Moose need someone who can lead with love and kindness, but still shows that they're the alpha. They are both trained to sit before they eat, sit at intersections before they cross the street, etc. They would be okay in a home with or without kids. It would be better if the kids are age 6+ because large dogs can be too much for younger children. They need a fenced yard. If you have experience with large dogs or either breed AND you're looking for an amazing pair, please consider Moose and Cheeto! They would love to meet you!! The suggested adoption donation for both Moose and Cheeto is $500, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
