My story

Rex is a Shih Tzu/Terrier/Pug mix (b 7/14/2023).  Rex is crate trained, knows some commands and is a friendly guy.  He gets along with other dogs, cats and kids of all ages.  He prefers to be around women and he would prefer to be in a home with another dog or cat around.  Rex gets a little lonely when left alone.  He really just wants and needs lot of attention and loving.  He will also benefit from some additional training to help him settle in to a new environment. Rex enjoys being active and needs a secure fenced yard with room to explore and play.  He's athletic and can jump surprisingly high.  Bonus points if you have a 6 foot fence instead of a 4 foot!  He loves to play at the fence with neighbor dogs, but we're not sure how he would do in person with them. Even though Rex is crate trained, he would rather not spend time in the kennel.  He tends to bark when kenneled and he would escape if he could.  He also will try to explore the neighborhood on his own if given the chance.  Rex is quick AND clever!  Door dashing has been a challenge in his current home.  It will be important that his potential adopters have a plan to manage that and keep him safe inside the house. The suggested adoption donation for Rex is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger ,than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. ##1867542##
