My story

**MEET IRIS**A Tender Soul Looking for Her Safe HavenAt just 2 years old, Iris has already weathered more than her share of heartache. Her journey with the Adams County SPCA began in a heartbreaking way—abandoned and tied beside a busy road, she sat there all night, scared and alone, just hoping someone would see her. It`s amazing how many strange noises you hear when you are in the dark, tied to a chain, confused and frightened! The next morning a kind man did see her and wanted to help, but Iris was too scared to trust. He did the right thing and called the Dog Warden, who called the ACSPCA for assistance, we safely brought her back to the shelter. When Iris first arrived, she was overwhelmed by the world around her. Loud trucks, cars, and unfamiliar people were all too much for her gentle heart. But over time, with incredible patience, consistent kindness, and the comfort of a warm, cozy bed in one of the staff offices, Iris began to bloom. And what a beautiful soul she is.Once Iris knows you`re safe, she will melt your heart. She`s soft, sweet, and just a little silly. She’s discovered how wonderful it is to take walks in the grass, nose to the ground, ears flapping in the breeze. She loves watching birds flutter by and letting the world unfold slowly around her. And when she’s feeling extra happy? Get ready for the ZOOMIES—tail tucked, legs pumping, pure joy flying across the yard after her potty break.Iris is fully housebroken and has truly earned her “staff favorite” badge—she hangs out in one of the team’s offices 24/7 and has settled in like a queen. She gets the special treatment, and she knows it!Right now, Iris feels more at ease with women and would likely thrive in a quiet, single-lady household—someone who enjoys the peace of a calm routine and who’s ready to offer her the time and patience she deserves. She’s still learning to trust men, but we believe with the right person, patience, and positive experiences, she’ll get there in her own time. She’s not the kind of dog who will run into your arms on day one. But if you’re the kind of person who knows that the best things in life are worth waiting for, Iris will show you a kind of love that’s deep, loyal, and lasting.Come meet this special girl. Sit with her, walk with her, let her show you her world. She’s waiting for someone to finally say, “You’re safe. You’re home.`*All three individuals involved in her abandon
