My story

Wendy is a very sweet 10-year-old Yellow Lab. She is a cuddle bug who loves to give kisses and always wants to be close to her people (and all people, really). A classic Lab, if you let her, she will even try to climb onto your lap! While she is currently overweight at 93 pounds, she has started a weight loss plan and has already lost a few pounds. With her weight and age, she is arthritic and requires a monthly injection to help her manage the condition but otherwise has a clean bill of health. She does not like to climb stairs, so she has been sleeping downstairs happily while her foster family sleeps upstairs. In the morning when she needs to do her business, she will give a short whine or bark to let her family know. Wendy is very good while left alone, she quietly rests and gives a wonderful warm greeting when her family returns. While on walks, Wendy currently gets over-excited when seeing other dogs and can be prone to pulling and barking. She does not show any signs of aggression, she just desperately wants to meet and play with other dogs and that can come across as intimidating to other dog owners. She is strong, so her forever family will need to be physically able to support her and invest time on training as she learns to stay calm in these situations. Her foster parents have already started working on improving her leash walking behaviour and she is showing signs of improvement in a short period of time. The ideal forever family for Wendy will need to be patient and willing to continue her weight loss journey and leash training, but it will all be worth it to have such a sweet and lovable pup enrich their lives. Good with cats: Unknown Good with dogs: Reactive Good with kids: Yes Good with strangers: She loves all people, always hoping to get a pet when passing by. Resource guarding issues: No Ever bitten a human: No Ever bitten a dog: No Housetrained: Yes Crate trained: No Good in the car: Yes.  She is quiet but pants a lot. Destructive: No Energy Level: Low to medium Leash skills: She mostly walks well on leash, but tends to pull and bark when she sees another dog. Okay with physical handling/manipulations: Is very good with her foster mom.  She sits down and waits for her paws to be wiped. Known commands: Come, sit, give a paw, up, down. Food on now: Kibble 2x/day plus a spoonful of wet food for taste. May want to move her to a weight management food option. Fully vetted and current with all her vaccines. Medical issues: Arthritic and takes Librela injections once a month May 18, 2025, 7:23 am
