My story

Maia is a 5-year-old Golden Retriever who is looking for her Furever family who will give her all of the love and attention she deserves. Maia is searching for her next family due to the fact that her family no longer has the capacity to give her the care and time she deserves. She has some anxiety and would do best in a home without young children due to her overexcited/anxious play biting and jumping. She has lived in a home with other cats and dogs and would do best with a calmer dog to help her chill. She is fully house broken, has never been destructive in the house and is overall a wonderful and sweet girl! She is a bit overexcited with new people and will jump and play bite but once she calms down, she’s just looking to give kisses and cuddles! Maia has light epilepsy that is controlled with medication and diet, she also had torn a ligament in the past so she also has a shot every 3-4 months to help. Her medications cost rough $220 every 2-3 months and has luckily not had any recent issues with these treatments; she will need to have the same done with her new adoptive family. Maia is fully vaccinated, sterilised, microchipped and covered for flea, tick, mite and intestinal/heartworm prevention and will come with her medical booklet. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
