My story

Hi! My name is SILVIE and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: White Shepherd/Jindo mix Age: 3 years (est. birth: Dec 2021) Gender: Female Weight: 34 lbs (15 kg) Height: 85 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 70 cm (head to butt) Current Location: S. KOREA RESCUE STORY - I was just three months old when I was found in a park in Paju, back in March 2022. Sadly, my sisters (including Honey, who's also posted with WCP!) and I ended up in a high-kill shelter. Fortunately, a rescue team saved us just in time, right before we were scheduled for euthanasia. While one of my sisters had the chance to be fostered, Honey and I have spent our entire lives in the shelter. We are sooo ready to find our forever homes where we can receive all the love we so deserve! TEMPERAMENT – I may be a little shy at first, but I open up my heart very quickly once I feel safe. Once I warm up to you, I’m playful and cheerful! I love putting my paws on your knee and don't even mind being carried (check out my video!). I also get along well with men, as long as they approach me slowly and gently. I tend to bark around people I’m unsure about and I’m not a big fan of eye contact until I feel safe with someone. Although I have never been aggressive and never bitten, I might nip if someone surprises me unexpectedly, so please approach me slowly and gently until I learn that you're safe. I am the sweetest girl, I just need a calm, understanding family who can go at my pace and advocate for my space in new environments. Oooh by the way, I am good with bathing and getting my nails trimmed! ENERGY LEVEL – Moderate, I love playing! I love playing with toys (video) and playing fetch, but I also enjoy lounging around and taking naps. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Because I may nip if I'm surprised unexpectedly, I would like to go to a home without children. Dogs – Yes! I get along well with other dogs. I’m currently staying at a shelter where all the dogs can freely roam during the day, and I never have any trouble getting along with them. Here are some videos of my temperament around other doggos (video 1, video 2, video 3) Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I’ve only had a few experiences with walks, but the volunteers said I did amazingly well on a leash and followed along nicely. I also enjoy a snack break here and there, hehe (video). Here are some videos of my leash walkin' skills (video 1, video 2, video 3). I also might make a good jogging buddy (video). I'm sure I'll still have some learning to do in my forever home, but with patience and some dedicated leash training, I have no doubt I'll be a pro in no time!  House trained – Work in progress. Having only lived in a rescue shelter so far, I will need training for housebreaking. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home! Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada. I will have dental cleaning, if necessary, before flying to Canada. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 + GST & PST) including applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##2397388##
