Hi! My name is HONEY (my Korean name is "Hyonie") and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: White Shepherd/Jindo mix Age: 3 years (est. birth: Dec 2021) Gender: S. Female Weight: 44 lbs (20 kg) Height: 90 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 75 cm (head to butt) Current Location: S. KOREA RESCUE STORY - I was just three months old when I was found in a park in Paju, back in March 2022. Sadly, my sisters (including Silvia, who's also posted with WCP!) and I ended up in a high-kill shelter. Fortunately, a rescue team saved us just in time, right before we were scheduled for euthanasia. While one of my sisters had the chance to be fostered, Silvia and I have spent our entire lives in the shelter. We are SO ready for our forever homes!! TEMPERAMENT – I’m a little shy around strangers and I tend to bark around people I’m unsure about. But once I warm up, I turn into a total cuddle bug! I absolutely LOVE hugs, pets, and attention. One of my favorite things is squeezing between our volunteers’ legs (video). I just need a little time to figure out if someone is safe and trustworthy. Although I have never been aggressive and never bitten, I might nip if someone surprises me unexpectedly, so please approach me slowly and gently until I learn that you're safe. I am the sweetest girl, I just need a calm, understanding family who can go at my pace and advocate for my space in new environments. I’m super smart and very food-motivated, so training me will be a fun and rewarding experience for both of us. ENERGY LEVEL – Moderate-low. I really enjoy naps and cuddles throughout the day but also enjoy a walk and snifari (video)! I'm the perfect combo, what can I say! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Because I may nip if I'm surprised unexpectedly, I would like to go to a home without children. Dogs – Yes! I get along well with other dogs. I’m currently staying at a shelter where all the dogs can freely roam during the day, and I never have any trouble getting along with them. Here are some videos of my temperament around other dogs (video 1, video 2, video 3) Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I’ve only had a few experiences with walks, but the volunteers said I did amazingly well on a leash and followed along nicely. Here are some videos of my leash walkin' skills (video 1, video 2). I'm sure I'll still have some learning to do in my forever home, but with patience and some dedicated leash training, I have no doubt I'll be a pro in no time! House trained – Work in progress. Having only lived in a rescue shelter so far, I will need training for housebreaking. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home! Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada. I will have dental cleaning, if necessary, before flying to Canada. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. In the winter of 2023, my paw was accidentally wrapped too tightly in a blanket, and I ended up losing two toes. But don’t worry—I have no trouble running or walking at all! ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 + GST & PST) including applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live. WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates. ##2397382##
