My story

Spring is a 1-year-old, 34-pound mixed-breed dog who came to the shelter in the company of three others! Keep reading to learn more about their stories.Spring, Washburn, Piper, and Fisher were reported running loose in the Outing, Minnesota area, living wild and fending for themselves. They were scared, and covered in ticks when they were discovered.The Retrievers organization, a dedicated group that tracks stray and lost animals, picked up their trail. They worked tirelessly to safely trap all four dogs and bring them to our shelter for much-needed care. Upon arrival, we discovered they were not only covered in wood ticks, but some even had old porcupine quills embedded in their skin. Each dog tested positive for Lyme disease, and they immediately began treatment at our shelter.Since then, Spring, Washburn, Piper, and Fisher have improved so much, and we`re incredibly proud of the progress they`ve made since their rough beginnings. They`re now in healthy physical shape, and their relationship with people has transformed completely. Once shy about interacting, entering new spaces, or experiencing anything new or scary, they have gained a lot of confidence and developed deep trust in our staff and volunteers. They love to run and play with each other and their two-legged friends, and they`re now eager to meet new people and find their forever families. Though sometimes still a bit shy, these four dogs are incredibly sweet and gentle. They adore affection and love outdoor adventures.Spring, Washburn, Piper, and Fisher are each spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccines. You can visit them at The Babinski Foundation Animal Shelter in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM!
